Frequently asked questions

Do I need to book in advance?

Yes — booking ahead guarantees your space. You can book online, by phone, or by email.

What time is the park open?

We open at 7:00 am and close around 5:00 pm.

When is the best time to book a tour?

A morning tour around 8:00 am is best — it is cooler and there is more chance of seeing wildlife.

Should I bring a camera?

You can, at your own responsibility. We take professional photos on all tours and you can view them at the end.

What happens if it rains?

Rain is typically only an issue from July to November. If you visit during those months, booking a morning tour improves your odds of clear weather.

Are tours canceled if it rains?

Tours run rain or shine. If there is lightning, strong wind, or torrential rain, we pause the tour until it clears; if you cannot wait, we reschedule to another day.

Can I get a refund?

Refunds apply when you cancel at least 24 hours before the tour. See our policies page for full terms.

Is there a place to eat at the park?

Yes — The Jungle Food & Drinks serves breakfast from 7:00 am, buffet lunch from 11:00 am, and an afternoon menu, plus smoothies and cocktails.

Is there somewhere to shower and change after the tours?

Yes, we have showers and changing rooms on site.

Where can I park my car?

We have safe parking on site for you to leave your car during the tours.

Where can I leave my things?

We have lockers at the park free of charge; a refundable deposit is required and returned when you return the key.

Is there a souvenir shop at the park?

Yes, we have a Britt gift shop where you can find souvenirs of your experience.

What do I wear for the tour?

Closed-toe shoes and light clothing.

Do I have to hike much on the zipline tour?

No — a tractor takes you up to the first platform, so there is minimal hiking involved.

What is the weight limit for the zipline?

The weight limit is 250 lbs (113 kg) per person.

What happens if I start the tour and do not want to continue?

There are several exit points along the route where you can stop and go back down on the tractor. The tour is not refunded if this happens.

Are kids safe on the zipline tour?

Yes — we welcome kids from age 4, and they use a full-body safety harness sized for children.

How safe is the zipline?

Our certified guides follow strict safety procedures throughout the tour to keep you safe from start to finish.

Can I do the tour if I am afraid of heights?

Yes — our guides regularly help guests who are nervous about heights and will support you throughout the tour.

Do I have to brake on the tour?

The correct braking position is one hand on the cable, but if you do not brake, our guides control your speed as you come into the platform.

Will there be snacks on the tour?

Your guide carries water throughout the tour, and we include tropical fruits at the end.

What is the weight limit for horseback riding?

The weight limit is 250 lbs (113 kg).

Can kids ride horses?

Yes, from age 4. Children aged 4–5 must be accompanied by a parent on the ride.

Are the horses on the tour friendly?

Yes, the horses are very calm, and no prior experience is needed to do the tour.

Can we run with the horses?

No, running the horses is not allowed on the tour.

Can we jump in the waterfalls?

We do not recommend jumping, but there are areas where you can do so.

How old do you have to be to drive an ATV?

Drivers must be at least 18 years old with a valid driver’s license. Kids 4–8 ride in a buggy; ages 9 and up can ride a double ATV.

Am I responsible for damage to the vehicle?

Yes — once you complete the practice track, you are responsible for any damage to your vehicle during the tour.

Is a credit card required for the ATV deposit?

Yes, we require a Visa, Mastercard, or Amex on file to participate in the ATV tour.

Are the vehicles easy to drive?

Yes, they are automatic, and you take a test drive on our private track first to get the hang of it before the tour.

What does the chocolate experience involve?

A short nature walk followed by a hands-on lesson in traditional chocolate-making, straight from the cacao fruit.

Can I do the chocolate tour if I have difficulty walking?

Yes — we can take you directly to the chocolate station so you avoid most of the walking.

Will I be able to eat chocolate?

Yes — during the tour you get to try chocolate paste, hot cocoa, fruit dipped in chocolate, and chocolate samples of all kinds.

What is canyoning?

Traveling down a river canyon using a mix of hiking, scrambling, jumping, rappelling, and swimming.

How long is the canyoning tour?

The tour takes about 3 hours.

How difficult is the canyoning tour?

Medium to high difficulty — you need to be able to hike about 15 minutes, climb stairs, and swim.

Is canyoning the same as rappelling?

Rappelling is part of it — on this tour you rappel down the river canyon as one of several techniques used along the way.

Will I get wet during canyoning?

Yes, you get completely wet — but Costa Rica’s tropical climate means you won’t be cold for long.
